Bronwen McCann, MA, RP (Qualifying)
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
I’ve long been drawn to the deeper questions of what shapes us and how we create meaning. With a background in philosophy and education, my curiosity about human experience naturally evolved into a desire to support others with their inner lives. This led me to the practice of psychotherapy, where I now help patients explore the connections between their inner world, relationships, and sense of self.
I have specific training in spiritually-integrative psychotherapy, which allows me to create a space where each person’s unique spiritual perspectives are welcome in the therapeutic space. I view spiritual practices and perspectives - whether through religious, spiritual, or atheistic lenses - as an important aspect of overall health and well-being, and believe that how we make meaning of our experiences profoundly influences our lives. My psychodynamic approach is informed by several areas, including Carl Jung’s analytic psychotherapy, relational psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and somatic/body-based approaches. I am particularly interested in how the unconscious is expressed through the body, which is why I am pursuing additional training in somatic, psychodynamic-informed approaches like the Hakomi Method and sensorimotor psychotherapy. These frameworks allow me to explore the bridge between the mind and body, supporting lasting change from the "ground up."
My overall therapeutic approach is integrative, personalized, and aimed at fostering lasting change. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan - children, adolescents, and adults - offering a holistic and compassionate space that honors each person’s unique needs and perspectives.

Sessions with Bronwen
In an intake session, I’ll invite you to share your story: what’s bringing you to therapy, your present-day symptoms, and the concerns that feel most pressing. I’ll also ask some questions about your early life history - not to dwell in the past for its own sake, but to begin understanding the experiences and relationships that have shaped you. Much of our work together will involve exploring how unconscious dynamics, often formed in our earliest relationships, continue to influence how you experience the world today.
Together, we’ll look at the struggles that are bringing you in. These might include difficulties in relationships, a sense of meaninglessness, anxious overthinking, or a general feeling of disconnection from life. Through the process of insight - gaining awareness of what was previously unconscious - we can begin to loosen the grip of these patterns and make new choices available to us.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, with the understanding that the unconscious reveals itself not only through our thoughts and perceptions, but also through the body’s habitual patterns of expression. In our work together, I pay close attention to these embodied expressions as a way of accessing implicit ways of thinking, feeling, and relating shaped by unconscious experience. By attending to both the mind and the body, we create space for your internal experience to be known more fully. As safety develops between us, we’ll also explore the relationship that forms in the room. I view the therapeutic relationship as a living, real-time reflection of how past experiences may be showing up in the present.
At its core, I see therapy as a process of “assisted self-discovery,” to borrow a phrase from Ron Kurtz, originator of the Hakomi Method. My role is to help you uncover the deeper threads of your experience so you can live with more freedom, awareness, and connection.
