Psychiatrist Toronto

Bronwen McCann, MA, RP

Registered Psychotherapist

As a psychotherapist, I believe in the power of a meaningful conversation. A genuine conversation has the capacity to stretch us beyond ourselves and into greater connection - and it is often in this space that healing takes place.

As a lifelong seeker myself, I draw not only from my professional training but also from my own experiences in analysis and inner work. I have seen firsthand the transformative potential of attending to dreams, inner fantasies, relational patterns, and the body's expressions as pathways to greater self-understanding and growth. Through this work, we can begin to feel larger than our difficulties and more connected to the fullness of who we are.

I am here for the person who longs for a "larger conversation" - one that makes room for the totality of who they are, as well as who they are becoming.

Psychodynamic Therapy Toronto

Sessions with Bronwen

In our first few sessions, I'll invite you to share what brings you to therapy and begin to understand the experiences and relationships that have shaped you. My work is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and adopts a relational, trauma-informed approach, recognizing that many of our struggles have roots in unconscious patterns formed through early experiences and relationships.

I pay close attention not only to thoughts and emotions, but also to the ways stress and trauma are held in the body and nervous system. Drawing from an embodied, neurobiologically-informed perspective, I understand symptoms as meaningful expressions of the mind, brain, and body working to adapt, survive, and thrive.

I also welcome the symbolic, spiritual, and mysterious dimensions of experience. Dreams, questions of meaning, imagination, and moments that feel difficult to explain all have a place in our work together. My aim is to support a therapeutic relationship where the complexity of your experience can be explored with curiosity, compassion, and depth.

As our relationship develops, we'll also pay attention over time to what emerges between us, exploring how old patterns may be living in the present and opening the possibility for something new.
