Join Us as a Psychodynamic Therapist or Psychoanalyst

Independent Contractor Position for a Registered Psychotherapist, Psychologist, or Psychological Associate

About the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights:

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual psychotherapy clinic based in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Our approach is rooted in evidence-based interventions and focuses on uncovering, understanding, and resolving the underlying emotions and root causes of symptoms. Through in-depth, collaborative discussions, we analyze unconscious thoughts and emotions from childhood to the present, exploring how they influence current experiences. This comprehensive approach allows us to develop targeted strategies that foster meaningful change and symptom relief. At the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights, we are committed to helping patients achieve deeper self-awareness and lasting transformation through a personalized and integrative treatment plan.

About the Position:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Psychotherapist, Psychologist, or Psychological Associate to join our team in a part-time, fully remote position. This role is ideal for a clinician with expertise in psychodynamic or psychoanalytic therapy who is passionate about providing in-depth, analytical, and patient-centered care. Working virtually with adolescents and adults (16+), you will address a range of concerns, including trauma, neurodevelopmental challenges, personality disorders, and sexual issues. If you are experienced and passionate about providing high-quality psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy and meet the qualifications below, we invite you to apply.

Requirements:

  • Provide psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy to adolescents and adults (16+) (all analytical frameworks are welcome, e.g., Jungian or Kleinian analysis).

  • Experience, comfort, and willingness in most of the specializations listed on our website. Experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodevelopmental disorders, personality disorders, and sexual issues is required.

  • Knowledge of non-diagnostic assessments (e.g., Adlerian Lifestyle Assessment, ASRS-V1.1, and other depression and anxiety inventories).

  • Willingness to work with patients with a frequency of one to five times weekly.

  • Knowledge and experience working with JaneApp for scheduling and documentation.

  • A business phone number is required to call patients, as people do not usually answer blocked numbers.

  • Work virtually with access to a confidential workspace, adequate lighting, high-speed internet, and a high-quality camera.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counselling or clinical psychology (or equivalent).

  • Registered as a member in good standing with the CRPO or CPBAO (formerly CPO) or equivalent and authorized to practice independently (no “qualifying” or supervision required).  Applicants not registered with one of these colleges will not be considered.

  • Depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and expertise in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy.

    • This could include Jungian analysis, Kleinian analysis, or any other psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach.

    • This could be obtained through one or more of the following: personal experience in receiving psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy, individual research and interest, education, clinical expertise, training, and supervision.

    • Note: We do not practice CBT, DBT, or other approaches. Please do not apply if psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy is not your theoretical orientation.

  • Experience and comfort with virtual therapy and working with adolescents and adults.

Assets:

  • Experience with couples, families, pre-natal and postpartum issues, women-specific issues, or eating disorders.

  • Experience working with children and teenagers under 16.

  • Knowledge of Bowen Family Systems theory.

  • French or additional language skills.

  • Willingness to participate in the Affordable Care Program by offering sliding scale rates for at least one patient.

Availability: Monday to Friday, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Perks and Compensation: Competitive fee split: 60/40 initially, transitioning to 65/35 after one year (per contract renewal).

Application Instructions: Email us your resume/CV and a cover letter that includes why you are interested in psychodynamic psychotherapy, a brief personal background, and an explanation of how you meet the job requirements.

Please note:

  • Only those registered with CRPO or CPBAO and meeting the independent practice requirement will be considered.

  • This is an independent contractor position.

  • Only applicants who are selected for further consideration will be contacted. We appreciate your interest in joining our team!
