I’ve always been drawn to the underlying structure of things—the quiet, often invisible forces that shape how we think, feel, and relate. That interest first took form in the world of film, where I learned how story is built: what information is needed, what can be left out, and how structure shapes meaning. Now, in therapy, I find myself working in reverse—deconstructing the meaning people have derived from their own story, often without realizing how it was assembled.

I’m interested in how people make sense of their experience—how meaning gets shaped by context, history, and the kinds of adaptive patterns we don’t always notice ourselves using. I tend to shift between close attention to detail and a broader view of how things fit together. This perspective helps me stay oriented—to both the immediate details of a person's experience and the larger patterns those details might belong to.

While I draw from a wide field of psychological and philosophical ideas, a few core influences have most clearly shaped how I work. From Adler, I take the view that much of our inner life unfolds in a social context—that we’re always navigating questions of belonging, value, and direction. Freud offered a way to think about the unconscious habits and defenses that shape how we respond to emotional life. And Winnicott helped clarify what therapy itself can offer: a steady, attuned relationship that allows space for parts of the self that may never have felt fully safe to emerge.

Psychodynamic Therapy Toronto

Sessions with Oren

Therapy with me is a process of uncovering and transforming the meaning you make of yourself and your place in the world. Together, we explore how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and emotional defences shape your current struggles, relationships, and sense of self.

From our first session, the focus is on what brings you to therapy and why now—this begins a collaborative process grounded in emotional safety and curiosity. I invite you to share whatever arises: thoughts, feelings, memories, images, dreams, or even silence. Everything you bring carries meaning, and nothing is too small or too strange to matter.

As our work deepens, we begin to notice how patterns show up not only in what you say, but in how you feel in the room, in your relationships, and even in your body. These subtle cues often point toward deeper emotional truths that aren’t always immediately accessible through words alone.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, but also informed by evidence-based assessments and existential reflection. I use a simple guiding framework: understanding what is happening and why it developed helps us discover how to move forward. While symptom relief is important, the ultimate goal is to help you live with greater freedom, connection, and a deeper sense of meaning.
