Jade Benjamin
Community Outreach Assistant
I am currently in my fourth year of a Psychology degree, and was drawn to the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights by a desire to immerse myself in a clinical setting before I pursue my Masters and continue towards a career as a therapist. I have a deep interest in serving neurodivergent individuals and exploring the modern practice of psychodynamic therapy. While my university coursework has provided a strong foundation in the historical origins of this modality, I am eager to use this role to fill my knowledge gaps and gain insight into the modern application of these theories in a real-world setting.
Currently, aside from my classes, I work as a data manager and volunteer with a writing group focused on disability inclusiveness. I’m excited to bring those administrative and outreach skills to the Centre, helping me bridge the gap between my current background and my future career goals while making a meaningful contribution to its work. I have a deep interest in serving neurodivergent individuals and in how psychodynamic therapy can be utilized to support diverse communities.
On a more personal note, I have a huge soft spot for community work and animals. I used to foster seeing eye dog puppies for the Lion’s Foundation of Canada—it was such a rewarding program to be part of, and I’m proud to say that all five of my pups successfully graduated to become service dogs! I also have a rescue dog named Amaya and a rescue cat named Merlin.
