The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual healthcare clinic specializing in psychodynamic and integrative care. Our evidence-based approach focuses on exploring the unconscious roots of psychological symptoms through in-depth, collaborative conversations. We help patients understand how early life experiences shape present struggles, and we offer individualized treatment that promotes insight, symptom relief, and lasting emotional change.
As we grow, we are expanding our interdisciplinary services to better support patients whose mental health concerns may benefit from medical assessment, primary care collaboration, diagnostic clarification, and coordinated treatment planning. We are seeking a Family Physician who values thoughtful, patient-centred care and understands the important relationship between physical health, mental health, and emotional well-being.
About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Physician licensed to practise in Ontario to join our team as an independent contractor in a part-time, remote role.
This position is ideal for a physician with an interest in mental health, psychotherapy-informed care, and collaborative clinical practice. In this role, you may provide medical consultations, diagnostic clarification, medication-related support, referrals, and treatment recommendations for patients presenting with mental health concerns, psychosocial stressors, and related medical needs.
The role offers flexible scheduling and an opportunity to work within a clinic that values clinical depth, collaborative care, ethical practice, and individualized patient support.
Core Responsibilities
Provide virtual medical consultations to patients seeking support related to mental health and associated primary care concerns.
Offer diagnostic clarification and medical recommendations within your scope of practice.
Provide medication-related assessment, guidance, prescribing, and follow-up where clinically appropriate.
Identify medical contributors to psychological symptoms and recommend appropriate investigations, referrals, or follow-up care.
Collaborate with psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other professionals as clinically appropriate and with patient consent.
Support integrated treatment planning that considers biological, psychological, relational, and social factors.
Maintain clear, timely, and secure documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
Document clinical work securely using our EMR, adhering to clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a confidential remote workspace with stable internet, professional lighting, and a quality camera.
Communicate with patients using a dedicated business phone line.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent.
Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Eligible to practise independently in Ontario.
Certification in Family Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada is preferred.
Experience assessing and supporting patients with mental health concerns.
Comfort providing virtual care where clinically appropriate.
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and documentation practices.
Commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and patient-centred care.
Assets
Experience working in mental health, collaborative care, or interdisciplinary clinical settings.
Experience collaborating with psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, schools, employers, or other health professionals.
Interest in psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, or psychotherapy-informed approaches to care.
Familiarity with EMR’s.
Fluency in French or additional languages.
Availability
8 hours between Monday to Friday, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Flexible scheduling is available based on physician preference and clinic needs.
