Zohra Ahmadzai

Community Outreach Assistant

I am a community outreach assistant at the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights. My interest in the therapeutic relationship aligns with the Clinic's empathetic, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment. As a volunteer, I hope to contribute to meaningful change and acquire relevant, hands-on experience in the mental health field.

I am largely drawn to common therapeutic factors that contribute to positive treatment outcomes, including empathy, trust, and the client-therapist relationship. I believe that addressing mental health first involves fostering a safe and supportive environment. Likewise, I am a dedicated volunteer who promotes compassion and social cohesion through community work. My experience in environmental stewardship, leadership, and community service demonstrates my commitment to positive change.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University, with concentrations in counselling, mental health, and social psychology. I currently work as a research assistant, supporting projects through literature reviews, data collection, and survey distribution. This experience deepened my understanding of psychology while strengthening my interest in the underlying processes that shape thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. I plan to apply to a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology program.
